Childcare Center Cook
Description
High quality, licensed childcare and preschool located in the Kansas City Northland is looking for an experienced Cook.
Meal Planning:
The cook will create and follow a monthly menu. He/she would calculate appropriate amounts of food required for the number of children being fed each day. Substitutions for children with food allergies must be made available. Average daily meal service is for 65 children currently.
Food Preparation:
The day care cook's primary purpose will be to prepare food for the children at the center. While lunch is the main focus, we also offer breakfast and snack. Our facility offers students a variety of healthy, fresh homecooked meals. There are very limited premade items offered. Cooking is a requirement of this position, not simply warming premade items. Creativity offering new flavors, textures and tastes are encouraged and expected.
Inventory & Ordering:
The cook will complete a weekly inventory and need to order foods in a timely manner. He/she needs to use caution when ordering to ensure the proper amount of food is delivered. The food will need to be organized and put away after its delivered to the center. The cook is also responsible for inventory and ordering of all center supplies, including cleaning, office, restroom, laundry and art supplies.
Cleaning:
The cook will be responsible for cleaning the kitchen between meals. This will include putting away food, washing pots and pans, utensils and plates, and cleaning counters, floors, refrigerators, other appliances, restroom, pantry and laundry room. Keeping a clean and tidy kitchen, following MO DHSS licensing requirements and local Health & Sanitation guidelines is required at all times.
Interacting with Children:
Children can be loud and demanding. The cook will need patience when dealing with students and should respond to their requests in a kind and caring manner. Understand that cleaning up spills will be a given when working with children.
Requirements
The cook will be responsible for cleaning the kitchen between meals.
This position is full time, approximately 35+ hours/week.
Work hours will be approximately 7: 30a.M. 3: 30 p.M.
The exact structure of the position will be determined based on the candidate s qualifications
Must be willing to obtain CPR Certification (On-site)
12 hours of continuing education
Compensation range: $10.00-$13.00/hour based on experience, education and certifications
Must pass a TB test and Work Physical
Have reliable transportation
Must be able to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
