WorkSource is currently hiring Carpenter / construction workers for one of Kansas City’s best remodeling and construction companies. The ideal candidate is a high trust, high character individual interested in being an important part of a small team of laborers, carpenters and construction workers. Most projects are high end projects on high end homes. Attention to detail, strong communication and reliability is as important if not more important than familiarity with hand and power tools and an understanding of remodel work.
As a carpenter, you will be required to demolish portions of 100-year-old homes, frame additions to homes, match and install new interior trim, and create a seamless addition to the home. The Carpenter will also be expected to provide guidance and supervision, as needed, to a project team involved in construction and remodeling projects.
This is a day shift position, 8a-4:30p. $20-$23 to start, $25+ (based on performance) at day 90. PTO, insurance, 401k, holiday pay, continuing education, tool and gas allowance.
Responsibilities of the Carpenter/construction worker
· Assigning and explaining tasks to the project team
· Responding to clients’ requests for various changes and/or repairs
· Regularly inspecting work done by the project team to ensure that it conforms to expectation of quality workmanship
· Work closely with the Project Manager
· Assist the Project Manager in solving project-related problems
· Handle punch list items and finish work
· Perform minor tasks related to other trades as required
Requirements of the Carpenter/construction worker
· Effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Conflict resolution skills
· Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
· Knowledge of local building and code requirements
· Knowledge of industry construction costs and material costs
· General knowledge of residential remodeling
· 6 to 8 years of experience in trim carpentry and framing
· Experience in a residential remodeling environment is a strong plus
· Valid drivers license
· Reliable transportation
· Knowledge of safety standards and procedures
· Candidate must own and provide most tools required to perform the duties of a Carpenter
· The ability to read blueprints and installation instructions for specialized applications (such as pocket doors, stair systems, and custom cabinets).
