Production Supervisor



Salary: Negotiable  based on Experience

Statement

  • The Production Supervisor is responsible for the performance of the Departments assigned encompassing Safety, Quality Assurance, Production Efficiency, Scheduling, Training, 5S, Equipment Maintenance, Employee Performance and various administrative duties





Supervision

  • Establish daily work priorities based on the Production Schedule



    • Specifically utilizing a 6: 00 morning huddle to start the day



  • Training (with Cont. Improvement Lead on specific equipment as needed)



  • Attendance



  • Onboarding new staff (with HR Manager)



  • Coaching



  • Written Communications / discipline / recommendations for increases



  • Work with PC/VPM on moving staff on outsourcing / insourcing team members to and from other Departments (sharing resources)



  • Ensure Department Team Members feel supported and heard





Schedule

  • Support the goals and schedule requirements as represented on the Production Schedule (Access Database)



    • Return daily schedule with hours remaining and other comments, at the end of each day



  • Job Traveler Board (JTB)



    • Accepts Job Travelers from Project Engineers



    • Organizes Job Travelers on board in date sequence



    • Updates JTB in real time



    • Frequent PE check ins and look-aheads on the schedule and check ins with PEs to increase better communication around job performance and Department readiness



Proactively Communicate with Production Coordinator / VP of Manufacturing on resource needs to accomplish schedule

  • Work with Production Coordinator / VP of Manufacturing and HR manager on staffing needed to meet Department Schedule requirements



    • Departmental Sharing resources



    • Cross training staff to be more flexible in work assignments



    • Hiring, Temps



    • Overtime



  • Supports the manufacturing concept of not a stopping a job once started



  • Bring scheduling conflicts and department priority questions to Production Coordinator / VP of Manufacturing



  • Work with team members to improve production efficiencies to improve hours performance against estimated hours





Quality Assurance

  • Ensure Quality Control Standards are met



  • "Own quality"



    • Work leaving Department should be "signed off" by Department Lead or Production Supervisor



    • "Accepting work" into your Department same thing



      • Own what you are receiving or address potential issues with appropriate parties



  • Follow, enforce, train and measure team members around established Production Standards and Production SOPs



  • Attend and contribute to Weekly Leadership Training Meeting





Safety and Housekeeping

  • Work with Continuous Improvement Lead on plant layout



    • Establishing and own assigned department floor space



  • Ensure all policies are followed in Department



    • Safety glasses



    • Equipment and tools used safely and appropriately



  • Safety and equipment / tools training for Department Staff



  • Responsible for equipment and tools issued to department



  • Turn in maintenance forms to CI Lead when needed



  • Department is clean and organized daily



      • Clean as you go policy



      • 2: 15 Clean up



      • Larger projects



  • All pallets of parts and sub-assemblies are labeled



  • Support 5S and Lean initiatives working with CI Lead



  • Notify Procurement when "never outs" are low





Labor cost Responsibilities

  • Each morning picks up from HR Manager, department staff clock-ins and outs report for the previous work. Sign for approval and return to HR before 11: 00 am



  • Overtime request overtime for any direct reporting team member form VPM each day. VPM will approve on case by case basis, record and HR will check approval of OT hours vs. Actual for comparison.

  • Other Administrative duties as required
