Safety Coordinator / Plant Administrator
Daytime - 6: 00am - 3: 00pm (occasional OT required)
Reports to: Quality Control Manager
Job Overview: Manage, develop, and maintain company safety program. Assist operations with various tasks and projects.
Safety Responsibilities and Duties (50%-60%):
Review existing safety policies and procedures. Ensure that company safety policies are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Prepare and manage written safety and health programs and policies.
Develop new employee on-boarding process for safety. Implement and manage process when complete.
Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis. Use data to assess risk and create positive change.
Train and encourage employees to choose practices that will contribute to a safer work environment.
Enforce existing safety policies.
Advocate for safer work equipment, materials, and supplies.
Prepare and deliver educational presentations on regular basis.
Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
Prepare and present reports on incidents and accidents (root cause analysis) to determine cause and recommend corrective action.
Submit reports to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant organizations as required.
Participate in new product/process reviews, including hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
Advise manufacturing plants and corporate staff of regulatory changes with which the plants must comply. Sufficient advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is ensured.
Maintain SDS library and provide periodic review/training.
Maintain company s OSHA 300 log and cost of safety analysis.
Own Plant and Field Silica Program
Create and audit job site specific safety plans to meet or exceed contractual requirements as required
Plant Administrator Responsibilities and Duties (40%-50%):
Process construction drawings and change orders.
Assist in general document processing, scanning, filing, and distribution.
Administer general plant phone calls, email, and mail.
Assist with new employee onboarding
Manage precast plant attendance occurrence reporting and associated documentation.
Manage daily time recording for plant personnel.
Provide general office assistance for plant management.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the company.
Education: 2-4 year degree in safety related field
Experience: or minimum of 5 years experience as a safety professional.
Computer literacy: Microsoft Office skills required. Quick Books experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for this position.
