Job Description

WorkSource is currently staffing for a 100-year-old, family-owned electrical company. They repair and test electric motors, hoist/cranes, welders, and generators. They offer power distribution testing and repair as well as new and used products. We are currently seeking an Electrical Switchgear and Breaker Technician for the Kansas City, KS headquarters. General Responsibilities of the Switchgear and Breaker Technician:
  • The Switchgear and Breaker Technician is responsible for electrical and mechanical testing and repair of distribution equipment.
  • May perform other service and repair duties.
  • May be performed at shop or at customer’s site
  • May operate company vehicles, fork trucks, scissor lifts and may use tools and machinery
  • Inspect, test, disassemble and reassemble
Specific Responsibilities of the Switchgear and Breaker Technician
  • Diagnoses electro-mechanical equipment
  • Determines required repairs 
  • Orders components, part and sub-assemblies
  • Cleans equipment
  • Repairs or rebuilds in accordance with Company or Manufacture standards
  • Tests equipment for quality
  • Paints and labels repaired equipment
  • Operates vehicles, machinery and equipment in a safe manner
  • Fills out paperwork legibly and accurately
  • Provides quality customer service whenever required
  • Engages in ongoing training
Requirements of the Switchgear and Breaker Technician
  • Sound understanding of electricy and controls, mechanical principles and able to use and interpret instruments
  • Must be able to physically handle tools and equipment. Lift 50lbs occasionally
  • NETA level 2 or better is preferred
