Area Manager

PAY:

$22-$26/Hour

LOCATION:

Cedar Rapids, IA

HOURS:

Typical hours may be 5pm to 1:30am. Hours are varied and dependent upon job needs. The area manager will be required to work 40+ hours a week, but schedule may vary for days Monday through Sunday.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Six months or more related experience including janitorial supervisory experience is REQUIRED.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation, as well as a clean driving record.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • A background check will be necessary on our end, you will be required to submit to a background check.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The area manager is responsible for oversight of night operations. In addition to managing staff and ensuring work orders from clients and standard janitorial duties in multiple buildings are complete each night, Heritage Cleaning Team area manager is expected to supervise all area managers and provide adequate training and support to operations teams. Quality customer service and a proven eye for detail must be provided at all times, and willingness/ability to be trained on and demonstrate to others approved cleaning techniques is essential.

DAILY JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITES (may include, but are not limited to):

- Take work orders and communications from the office and relay them to front-line cleaning team members to complete necessary requests

- Understand and follow written and verbal instructions in multiple locations to complete nightly cleaning duties and maintain standard of excellence with staff based on approved cleaning specifications

- Report on any human resource/clock-in/clock-out issues on a nightly basis.

- Driving company vehicles to and from building locations to perform janitorial service audits and manage the work of team members under their supervisor throughout.

- Conduct audits on a nightly basis and report back to customer service / client.

- Conduct annual employee reviews.

- Conduct interviews and assist human resources with decisions related to hiring and firing of employees.

- Attend required staff planning meetings.

- Audit employee schedules for accuracy.

- Interviewing, selecting, and training employees

- Setting rates of pay and hours of work.

- Appraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employees

- Determining work techniques

- Planning the work

- Apportioning work among employees in an effort to manage/reduce overtime

- Determining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials needed;

- Planning budgets for work.

- Monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.

- Providing for safety and security of the workplace.

- Creation and implementation of policies and procedures.

Duties also may include training team members who are:

- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of flooring and stairs.

- Clean and sanitize bathrooms.

- Clean sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms.

- Providing feedback to the office on inventory levels for ordering in client buildings.

- Helping to restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms and common areas.

- Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.

- Dusting and cleaning office desks and furniture that are not cluttered. - Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner.

- Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition.

- Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals.

- Wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than 50 lbs.

Salary: $22.00 - $26.00 per year
